Flexible spending accounts
- Two separate accounts: Dependent Care Account and Health Care Account
- Dependent Care Accounts are used to pay for child care expenses while employee and spouse are working
- Health Care Accounts are used to pay out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles, co-insurances, and other medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Contributions are pretax and begin the first of the month following date of employment
Dependent life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
- Coverage available for employee, spouse, and eligible dependent children.
- Coverage starts the first of the month following three months of employment
- Premiums paid by employee through payroll deduction
Life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
- Coverage starts on the first of the month following three months of employment
- Employer provides 2X coverage at no cost to the employee
- Employee can purchase up to 3X additional coverage through payroll deduction
- Coverage maximum of $1,000,000 for each benefit.
Long-term disability insurance
- Premiums paid by employer at no cost to the employee

Safety gear
- Basin Electric provides safety gear free of charge to employees
- If the job requires fire resistant (FR) clothing, the cooperative provides a budget for FR every year
- If the job requires steel toed boots, the cooperative will pay for a new pair each year
- Safety glasses and ear plugs are available to all employees to take home to use with their families
Educational assistance
- Full-time employees who complete undergraduate course work at an accredited educational institution in an approved program may receive up to 100 percent education reimbursement
- Part-time employees may be eligible for pro-rated reimbursement
Exercise Equipment / PC loan program
- Employees purchase their own computer systems or exercise equipment and, based on qualified purchases, repay the loan per the terms of the loan agreement through payroll deduction
Wellness program
- Basin Electric and its subsidiaries promote a total lifestyle approach to employee wellness by providing blood screenings, flu shots, fitness facilities, on-site clinics, and wellness and health education programs
