Basin Electric has executed an agreement to purchase power from Triple H Wind, a wind project located in Hyde County near Highmore, South Dakota. The installation consists of 92 turbines creating up to 250 megawatts (MW) of power. Through this 20-year agreement, Basin Electric will procure all 250 MW of wind generation.
“Basin Electric is growing, and as a result we’re adding additional resources of various types to serve our member obligations,” said Benjamin Hertz, manager of Power Supply Planning. “Wind resources offer a low and stable price for the long term. This helps shield some of the energy Basin Electric provides its members from the volatility of fuel prices needed for other sources of generation.
