Basin Electric Power Cooperative is a consumer-owned, regional generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative providing wholesale power to member rural electric systems in nine states. The following statistics are for end-of-year (EOY) 2023.

In 2023, renewable and green generation (wind and recovered energy generation) equaled 18% of Basin Electric's total energy portfolio mix. Note: The actual renewable energy attributes (aka green tags or RECs) of much of that generation was allocated to Basin Electric's members and no claims of environmental attributes may be claimed for any part of Basin Electric's power supply, unless those attributes are assigned to the power claimed as green or renewable.

In 2023, coal-based generation equaled 42.1 percent of Basin Electric's total energy portfolio mix.
