Larson joins the Basin Electric Board of Directors

Anthony Larson has been elected to serve on the Basin Electric Board of Directors.

Anthony Larson has been elected to serve on the Basin Electric Board of Directors beginning Nov. 1, 2024, and will represent District 8, Upper Missouri Power Cooperative, located in Sidney, Montana. He will replace Allen Theissen who served on the board for 12 years. 

Larson is vice president of the Slope Electric Cooperative board, a Basin Electric Class C member located in New England, North Dakota, and serves as treasurer of the Upper Missouri Power Cooperative board. Additionally, he is a director on the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance board and is chairman of the Innovative Energy Alliance Cooperative board. He is the fourth-generation owner and operator of 1910 Larson Ranch, a beef cow/calf, yearling, and forage operation. He has worked in bank management and lending at Dacotah Bank and is a former board member of the Rural Development Finance Corporation. Larson earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University, studied at the Colorado Graduate School of Banking, and holds a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Director Gold Certificate. 

“My whole life has been focused on service, and I’ve had opportunities to serve in a variety of ways,” Larson said. “When I saw the chance to serve on the Basin Electric board and the impact that Basin Electric has on so many lives throughout such a big service territory, I knew I could use my skills and experiences to make a difference.” 

Larson is passionate about the cooperative business model and looks forward to healthy discussions, diverse viewpoints, and making decisions to meet the needs of Basin Electric’s members.
