Basin Electric’s board of directors adopted the Rate Schedule A for 2024.
Elizabeth Erhardt, Basin Electric rate and load analyst, said the board adopted the rates at their September board meeting. “We haven’t had a general rate increase for our members since 2016. Since then, we have been able to provide a member rate decrease in 2020 and again in 2023,” she said.
The 2024 rates include a one-mill rate increase for the electric heat rate. “As the rate is considered each year, the board approves language regarding the time period for maintaining the rate. The board has the intent to maintain the electric rate option through 2028, but it may be modified at the board’s discretion at any time,” Erhardt said.
Erhardt said the rate schedule was sent to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Sept. 29, and Basin Electric has requested FERC to act by end of November.
