Basin Electric staff and member cooperative managers met for the 2023 summer Member Managers Conference in Deadwood, South Dakota, on July 19-21.
Member managers and Basin Electric staff gather two times each year to exchange information, share ideas, and work closely on issues. One hundred and two members attended the conference, and 75 member cooperatives were represented.
The conference began with opening comments from Interim CEO and General Manager Todd Brickhouse, and continued with updates on Dakota Gas, strategic planning, and the cooperative’s financial performance. Presentations also included updates on load and resources, commodity markets, rates, draft financial forecasts, and human resources, as well as a legislative and regulatory update.
The agenda included two industry speakers: Brian Kalk, chief resource officer for the Energy and Environmental Research Center, and Raad Alkadiri, managing director of Energy, Climate, and Resources for the Eurasia Group.
